The HotPaw Morse Code Decoder is a powerful tool for translating Morse Code sound into text. It offers a user-friendly experience by allowing you to use the microphone or headset input on your iPhone or iPad for audio signal input, making the decoding process simple and efficient.

One of the standout features of the Morse Code Decoder is its automatic decoding mode, which makes it easy to interpret Morse Code signals. Additionally, it provides manual controls that allow you to decode weaker signals in noise and QRM (interference on the radio frequency). This flexibility is further enhanced by adjustable parameters such as audio filter frequency, WPM dot/dash speed, threshold level of background noise, and the option to use Farnsworth timing for detecting spaces between characters.

To assist in audio frequency analysis, the Morse Code Decoder incorporates a built-in spectrogram. This feature proves helpful when determining the audio frequency of the Morse Code tones. Moreover, if you're dealing with background noise, the optional narrow-band DSP audio filter can be utilized to filter out unwanted interference. It's important to note that the audio filter is designed specifically for tone frequencies ranging from 300 to 2400 Hz; attempting to decode tones outside this range may yield inaccurate results.

The automatic adaptive Morse code WPM detection speed is particularly impressive, ranging from approximately 8 to 40 WPM. Moreover, if the automatic speed detection doesn't meet your requirements, you have the option to manually set the WPM code speed. In addition, there is a QRQ High Speed WPM mode that allows decoding speeds within the range of 30 to 80 WPM.

For optimal performance, it is recommended to aim your iPhone microphone directly at the Morse Code source. This ensures that the iPhone's noise-canceling microphone does not cancel out the Morse Code sound. To verify that sound is reaching your device, you can monitor the spectrum display for a visible peak. In instances where automatic decoding fails to adjust accurately to the frequency, WPM, or background noise threshold level, the manual settings come in handy. It's crucial to set the audio filter and WPM correctly and be mindful of excessive background noise or room echoes.
